But, as things tend to do, they have changed. And luckily for the better. What started out first as a hobby, then as a mild distraction between loads of laundry and dirty diapers, has blossomed into a full-blown, and nearly full-time career. Not only am I designing for both WordPress and Blogger blogs, but I’m developing small-business websites, creating logos, and doing a variety of print work. As cute as fairies may be, when you design a website for a dentist or a financial planner, it’s a little embarrassing to add “Design by The Blog Fairy” to the footer.

So I’ve decided to take things to the next level. I have reinvented myself and created a brand new home over at Emily White Designs. I will still be doing all the things you’ve grown to know and love me for, but hopefully this new identity will give me the business and design credibility I need to offer bigger and better services as well. I have so many wonderful and loyal clients who have stuck with me throughout the past several years. I look forward to continuing to work with you and hope that this change allows me to broaden that circle even wider.

So when I design a site using the Thesis theme I also use a plugin called Open Hook which allows me to make customizations to the theme. Those things could include moving your nav bar around, adding social media buttons to the header, adding a signature to your posts, or customizing the text in the footer.

Open Hook recently updated their plugin and as a result all those beautiful customizations may be temporarily missing from your site. This is where I pat you on the head, tell you to not freak out and that everything is going to be OK. The fix for this is so simple that you yourself are going to take care of it. Here is the step by step (with photos) for what you need to do.

1. Log into your WP Dashboard.

2. Locate the “Settings” option from the menu on the left side of the screen, toggle it open and locate the “Open Hook” option down at the bottom of the list. Click it.

3. Locate the “Active Action Groups” and be sure that “Thesis” is checked and hit “Save Changes”.

4. Just below that you will see a button that says “Update from OpenHook 2″. Click that button. You will get a warning message that asks if you are sure about this. Click “OK”.

That’s it. You saved your website. Don’t believe me? Just click on “View Site” and check it out.  Do you feel like a hero? You should.
